We should try to keep track of the number of miles its travelled.

Also - how about a signed piece of paper in the box, logging who, where, when?

Glad this topic is back on track, and in the spirit with which it was originally conceived!

Rob - Great idea !!  Can we reconstruct the miles travelled so far ? and the who, when, and where part ?

May I ask, is there a list for forum members who would like to have the QE2 Jigsaw posted onto them?  ;D

Hi Barrie -- Not sure if there is a list.  Rod had the jigsaw, then me, now QE2 is on her way to Pete Cain.  I think Helen asked about it, then you.  I think Isabelle may know if there is a list.  June   :)

At some point I'd like to have a go at it myself...  :)

I'd also suggest that where members are within an hour or two of each other, we should aim at personal rather than postal handovers in order to minimise the risk to the jigsaw, and that if it has to be posted we should only use Special Delivery ( Recorded does NOT offer tracking and is lumped in with ordinary post for the transit stage ) or the international equivalent?

Thanks for that June. I will check with Isabelle in the New year. ;D

So far we have not made a list of either who has completed the jigsaw or who is interested in doing the jigsaw in the future, but it sounds like a good idea especially so that we can see the places the jigsaw has visited.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Hi Peter - I think you would enjoy "building" QE2 in the form of the puzzle.  Also, I think it is a very good idea to hand deliver the jigsaw wherever possible to preserve it in the best condition possible and avoid loss.

Hi Barrie - Likewise, I think you would enjoy fitting together the QE2 jigsaw.  I felt in awe of QE2 while doing so !

Hi Isabelle - Do you think it is possible to reconstruct who has done the puzzle and also to calculate the miles travelled ?  From Rod's house to mine is 1247 miles.  I tried to calculate from mine to Pete Cain's but not sure how to do it.  Any navigators here who can help ?

Hi Lynda - Do you think we can reconstruct who has done the jigsaw and the routes it has travelled ?  I mentioned the number of miles from Rod's house to mine in the previous post.  Did the puzzle start out with you, Isabelle, or Rob ?

The puzzle started out with :

Rob in Scotland, then travelled to
Isabelle in Ireland, from there to
Lynda in Scotland, and to
Louis in Germany, then to
Rod in the USA,
June in the USA,
Pete in England...

... and on from there!

Could we also send it to Switzerland, France and Luxembourg perhaps?
And from there to Australia and New Zealand, perhaps even Singapore?

One day, it will hopefully come back to me, as it was Rob's gift to me that started it on the journey :) .

Thank you, Rob, for your kind present and for allowing me to share it with the Forum!

If you read this thread from the beginning, the various stages and dates can be followed from my 2011 Christmas on... what adventures this jigsaw has already had!

Hi Isabelle - Thank you very much for your post and all of the information regarding the jigsaw.  I think the jigsaw is a great tribute to our QE2 as it makes its way around the world and each of us in our turn has a chance to fit it together.  Really a very nice thing to do....!

Great, Helen! I wonder whether you ever got the chance to potter over the HUGE jigsaws on the table by the Mauretania painting?

Not very often. Only when I did a stint as night housekeeper!

Hi Pete - According to tracking, QE2 (jigsaw) should be in England, but how long might it take to go through customs ?  Anyone know ?

Thanks, Pete, I'm getting nervous about QE2 (jigsaw) arriving safely.  Also, hoping it arrives so you can do it at Christmas with your family.  June

Sorry to report, that the jig-saw didn't arrive before our departure, however neighbours have been tasked to keep a look out & take delivery on our behalf, if they see anybody trying to drop it off.
