Guess what's been repaired!

That's good news, although I didn't notice much damage compared to the nearby model of Caronia "The Green Goddess" that was and maybe still is in dire need of some TLC!

First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

Thank you - a thousand times, Rob and Alex!
This is so much better...Well Done to all who contributed re-making QE2's appearance,
both  as she was and still needs to be!

The red carpet - is that really still there?!
The Windows of the Yacht Club, they (still!) look wonderful.
Needs a Glass Piano!
The Golden Lion - Nearly OK!

Any more news of The Chart Room?
And- the Areas used by the "Guests in the Grills"?
Do you remember the plants in the gravel fulled containers outside the Yacht Club?
Gravel containers Still there! (Although No plants, either real or artificial!)

Thank Goodness - the Portraits on the Stairway are there.
How about the Builders' Brick, and The Bell?

Also just wondering about the Shop and The Library?

Thank you. I think both places look good.
Be interesting to go for breakfast and ask for a bucket of bread!

Hi Rosie,

Just to answer a couple of your questions:

The shop and library were converted into conference/meeting rooms (there's an Arabic name for the type of room they now are that I can't remember off the top of my head) before she opened to the public in April 2018, and they are usually locked. The Asprey's silver model from Midships Lobby is in the former library these days, it's carved out area in Midships Lobby still present and reminding me it's missing from it's prime position, hidden away and mostly forgotten. The Ocean Books branding and other things from the old days such as the post box and the same glass doors are still in place.

The red carpet by the Mauretania model is spare/leftover supply from her last years with Cunard that Dubai put down outside what was the Caronia Restaurant (now a business centre but retaining parts of the old decor including the painting on the rear bulkhead) as the carpet in that particular area was a turquoise carpet in her last few years with Cunard.

Thank you Alex for pictures and showing the flowers etc. It was so SAD to loose QEII. I watched every which started in Los Angeles at 230 until the end a Windsor.

I sure hope that in Dubai they keep up on the QE2 so she will look good in the future.  We have the Queen Mary in Long Beach which they are trying to work on. These ships are very important to keep up for their history.

Alex has been back in Dubai and had another enjoyable stay on QE2. I'll let him fill you in himself, but here's his photos.

The strange glass wall is the entrance area to the outdoors float Dubai nightclub that's where the funnel bar etc was I believe.
