The photographer seems to be a genuine "QE2 Watcher", with photos from different angles and at different times of day.

It also struck me how pretty the Vanuatu flag is :) . Pity she can't sail out and proudly fly it on the high seas!

QE2 is such a beauty no matter from which angle she is viewed !

Isabelle, you are correct in that the Vanuatu flag is quite striking.

Many thanks to Liam for the photos and thanks to Rob for posting them.

Thanks, Louis, for verifying the 30 March grand opening day.  It has been our hope for almost ten years, and hopefully, it will now come to fruition.

 :)

I have noticed for a while and it's interesting to note, that the tops of the individual exhaust uptakes/pipes in the funnel have been cleaned of the soot/carbon deposits that accrued there when the diesels were in operation. They are back to the bare metal as they were shortly after the 1986/7 re-engining. Are the individual exhaust uptakes/pipes made of stainless steel to prevent corrosion?
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

If they've done that, I have to say that is impressive attention to detail on their part.  99% of their visitors won't even look at the very top of the funnel closely enough to even notice the stacks.

Never noticed that. I thought it was painted black to be flush with the black part of the funnel casing!

Lights are on on quarter deck, and a mystery dark shape is on the front of the ship where the observation bar was...

Judging by photos from a couple of months ago the dark shape appears to be a dark coloured tarpaulin that's still in place in the forward galley area - maybe work is ongoing but exactly what sort of work is a mystery to me at least? I would imagine she's yet to get the final, exterior, cosmetic finishing touches.
