Good to see a Kiwi in there - 3rd Officer Cassie Mead and I sailed together quite a few times between 2015 - 2017.

She also has sailing experience on the same tall ship as my son.

Skilly.

Quite a multi national female bridge crew - I thought is was good that the nationality of each officer was posted on the article.

In the article, a lady named Sue Denning was mentioned
I think she was Cunard at one time....not on the Cruise Staff though.

I wonder if it is the same person, I could add her name if you think she was QE2 crew.

Lynda, I wouldn't add her until we are sure.
And I have no way of proving it.
But maybe there is someone older than me, with a better memory, hanging around  in the wings!

Cunard Australia have announced on International Women's Day 8 March that Captain Inge Klein Thorhauge will be Captain of Queen Anne.

Very appropriate!

Quiz Question : Who was the most senior female officer ever on board QE2 ?

Quiz Question : Who was the most senior female officer ever on board QE2 ?

Would it have been someone on the hotel services or medical side?

At a rough guess i'd say Jacqui Hodgeson, who was the Hotel Manager both on QE2 & QM2. Senior Medical Officer's were only ever 3 stripe Officers so it must have been someone on the F&B [Fruit & Veg] side!
Sadly, all Deck & Tech Senior Officers were Male, although i remember one Female 1st Engineer, Lisa ?? on QE2, & one 1st Officer Becki ?? on QM2. But these women were following the path set by Inger and her ilk.

Would Diane Williams count in this context?  As PA to the Captain, she must have been quite senior in the ranks?

Sorry to disappoint Peter but, the Captain's Secretary was only a half stripe position, as was the Tech Sec, The Engine Office Secretary.

Digging in my memory, I seem to recall Catriona Dowling was 2/O on the final voyage
And now confirmed by finding the relevant page of the Final Voyage Crew List.
Near the top of the rh column.

And Catriona Johnson as well, from Scotland (3-striper) - the good doctor in July 2008.
Plus Catherine Wood, 3/O, who I seem to recall spoke 5 languages!

I like this picture of the four stewards shivering in the cold in the Fjords.  The picture was taken in 2005 by George C Griffiths who has very kindly copied to disc and sent me his collection of QE2 photos from 1999 to 2008.

Does anyone know who they are?

Acknowledgment, on International Womans Day 2024, of the huge contribution by all the QE2's female crew over the years!  This topic is already a great tribute!
