Good video footage and she look so elegant.  When onboard I liked watching the tugs working with the ship and in this video it is interesting to see such good shots of the tugs keeping her in place.

Looking forward to part 2.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Note the Lido in it's original post 1994 decor, Caronia Restaurant where Mauretania later was, the 1994-1999 version of the Queens Room and the Blue Deck Chairs!

The first time I sailed on QE2 was 1997 so the decor looks so familiar.  I also have video footage (on DVD) from that year but I need to investigate how to put it onto YouTube.

Sailing into the sunset seems so appropriate now.

I'm in Video mode this weekend.

Here's QE2 in 1995, the first time I "met" her:

On the above video you can see the Project Lifestyle interior, including Quarter Deck Mauretania Restaurant, 1994-1999 Queens Room, 1994-1999 Grand Lounge and On the Bridge with 1st Officer Ian McNaught!!

Cheers,

Chris.

Chris

Amazing to think that I boarded QE2 in Auckland then and sailed to Sydney via Lyttleton. Commodore John Burton-Hall in command. I took the first UK press group to board after the 1994 refit and the disastrous headlines which followed that work!

Michael, hard to believe we were both aboard QE2 at the same time!

It was during that voyage that my passion for QE2 started, and during that trip that I decided I was going to be a maritime lecturer and get my book aboard QE2 one day! It's nice that some dreams do come true!

The ship looked fantastic post 94 after all the mess was cleaned up. The colour palate used really worked fantastically. We have lots of photos of the interior including the Mauritania (in Columbia area) and the Lido in it's gorgeous Winter Garden theme, complete with tiled floor and wicker furniture - looked it's best then!
