September 2023 : Luggage

The theme for this month's photo competition is "Luggage", chosen by Cunardqueen, who may well have held a record for the amount of luggage brought on board  .

Photos can be of luggage anywhere on or off QE2, from the moment of embarkation to the moment of disembarkation and departure. QE2 should preferably be in the picture, but luggage in port waiting to be loaded or already unloaded is eligible.

Update: we have decided to widen the theme to try to encourage more entries.  Luggage could include the clothes in the wardrobes , which are also luggage, and perhaps even the clothes that were worn. Anything you brought on board with you! Could be a photo of something like a camera.

Some pictures may already be in the QE2 Story Gallery -- if you would like to use one of those for the competition, just let the Moderators know, and we can enter them for you, without removing them from their original albums.

Your description should if possible give some information about where you were on the day, as you took the photo.

Photos entered should be your own, or if not, please post them with permission of the photographer, mentioning the name for copyright reasons, and so that the owner can win the prize!

Enjoy the search! It is bound to bring many happy / sad memories and possibly a grin to your face .


The prize this month (donated by me) is the yet to be designed QE2 Story desk calendar for 2024. This calendar is only available as a prize, it cannot be ordered for sale.

The album is open -- so now is the time to look for your three most interesting pictures on this theme. Wishing you happy memories as you search your photo collection to find up to three pictures to upload to the competition album.

The deadline for submitting photos is 30 September 2023. Voting will run from 1 October 2023 until 1 November 2023, until everyone's time zone has caught up with the closing date.

We have had a little "confab" and decided to widen the theme to include the clothes in the wardrobes , which are also luggage, and perhaps even the clothes that were worn.
