Chris Buikus (QE2 Crew member) RIP
« on: May 03, 2022, 07:14 PM »
Sad news , recently heard that my old shipmate and great friend Chris Buikus died over the weekend. He was a great guy and always up for a laugh, a gruff Yorkshire man with a big heart. He worked in the TOW then became a bedroom steward , I’m devastated and still in shock ...his funeral is at dewsbury crematorium on 12 may at 12.30 should anyone wish to pay respect . RIP Buikus , see you on the other side 😓

Sad news indeed Peter when you learn that a friend has passed.  Thinking of you and sending my condolences to you and to your friend's family.

Do you know what years Chis Buikus worked on QE2?

My great friend and shipmate Chris Buikus died in June . I went to his funeral in Dewsbury and unfortunately only one other shipmate (Kev Cooper) attended , but we represented all the boys who couldn’t make it . If you worked with Chris you would know he was a gruff in your face Yorkshireman but a funny guy with a heart of gold .part of the ships football team in the famous match in China in 79 he started out in the T O W but ended up as a bedroom steward. I did a painting of Chris in his prime to give to his widow Maureen Rest in peace my mate

A wonderful tribute, thank you Peter.

If you edit your post to include QE2 in the subject and body of the message, it will help Google bring it up as a result for anyone searching for his name and QE2 on the internet.

Peter I hope you don't mind that I have merged your post with the initial topic you had posted about the sad news of losing your friend. I also added QE2 to the heading, as Rob had suggested,  so that Google searches may pick up on your post.

Good portrait of your friend thanks for sharing.
