Does anyone remember my grandfather Norman Smith who was a head waiter/restaurant manager on QE2 from 1969 to his retirement in October 1975

I joined QE2 in September 1983 as an assistant waiter becoming a full time waiter in the Columbia Restaurant in October 1983.
In June 1984 I became a petter officer in the Accounts/Pursers Office. I left QE2 in April 1987 to work on the cross channel ferries untill October 1998 as Dep Purser.

Why not try and add a photo of your father on here, that may help people recall.
And hopefully out of all the members on here, someone will have met him
Good Luck

Alan Dutton here, Hotel officer QE2 1969 to 1979
I sailed with your grandfather Norman in the 70's
During some of that time I was the Hotel Officer in charge of the restaurants and worked with him.
He was a very kind person and a gentlemen.
If I can find it I think I have a picture of him in the Wardroom.
best, Alan
