Ben, Capetown is nice, but the only place in the world where I got mugged!

For me, any port which allowed a casual walk from the ship directly into the middle of town was a good one. Malta and particularly Trieste were great. Cape Town was another good one but my favourite would be Hong Kong, for the simple reason that that is where I embarked upon my first ever QE2 journey - call it nostalgia !

That is an excellent point. I remember both Stavanger and Aalesund as great ports where we could wander straight from QE2 into the town centre. One year, we were even able to watch the Beach Volleyball championships in Stavanger without leaving the ship at all!

Singapore, on the other hand, had the huge attraction that we could relax on deckchairs on deck and watch all the activities around the container port -- fascinating!

Tough one to answer as I have several favourites.
Hong Kong probably tops the list as it was usually an overnight or two, great place to get a suit made - Sams!
Great shopping and eating and drinking.
Always enjoyed San Francisco and Vancouver (went to these on the Sagafjord),  and of course Sydney Australia.
I suppose I should call Fort Lauderdale a real favourite as I ended up living there for 9 years! ;D

The first time we sailed on QE2 was the transatlantic crossing to New York.  One of the talks was to tell passengers about New York and at the end of talk the speaker said New York - you either love or hate the city - well I loved the city.

I have ever lasting memories of getting up early for sail up the Hudson River and seeing the New York Skyline emerge out of the mist.

I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

I'm surprised you were not charged for the volleyball !!

Spent six weeks in Capetown working on the Lowland Lancer (ex Sir Lancelot RFA) Casino ship.
Was great at the time as exchange rate was 9 Rand to the Pound and 1 Rand had the same buying power as 1 Pound!
Great city to explore but the townships behind table mountain were very scary to drive through.
