Poll September 2021 : My Most Treasured QE2 Photos
« on: Sep 28, 2021, 03:19 PM »
The theme for the September Competition, "My most treasured QE2 photos" was chosen by the Moderating Team, to celebrate 10 years of the QE2 Story photo competitions, and also the launch of QE2 on 20 September 1967.

We have had a record entry of photos this month, 77 pictures, which we hugely appreciate. In honour of the occasion, you have 5 votes for your favourite pictures. This is the first competition of the new "calendar" year, with winning and runner-up photos going towards the 2023 QE2 Story Calendar.

The prize this month is very special. It is the photo book containing all the prizewinning photos of the past ten years, in interesting juxtapositions, which we are sure you will enjoy.

There is a write-up of the photo book, with tempting illustrations, which you can see by clicking here .

Should you, as one of the top contributors to the photo competition, already have received a copy of the book as a special prize, and should you be the winner of this competition, we shall make sure that you receive another worthy prize instead.

Voting is easy, but you need to be registered as a Forum member and log into the Forum to vote.  Whether or not you have submitted photos, please support those who have participated, by choosing your 5 favourite ones, noting the details, then tick the relevant boxes on the poll.  If you have entered photos, please do not vote for your own pictures.

To make it easier for you, we have posted the pictures below.

However, given the sheer number of photos entered this month, you might like to turn to the Gallery Album, "My most treasured QE2 photos", where you can see them all at once, in thumbnail form...

... plus you can view larger versions of the pictures by clicking on the photos to see medium size, and clicking once more to see them in large size.

You will not see the results of the vote until the poll has closed on 1 November 2021, after all time zones have had a chance to catch up with the voting deadline.

Enjoy the variety and the tender feelings expressed in these photos and choose your favourites :) .

Did you know you can view a slideshow of the photos in the competition album?

Q:Does it help with this month's difficult choice of choosing just five pictures?
A: No
.......but it is rather nice to view the photos this way.

How to view in slideshow mode -
1.  Select photo from the thumbnail selection of pictures
2. Once the photo has opened you will see three little icons on the top left hand side (under the word Home> Photo of the month)
3.  If you hover over the third icon you will see the work slideshow - select the third icon

Narrowing it down to 5 votes is so hard...

But I do know which photo would win the prize for the best title  ;D !

Thanks to everyone who have made the difficult choice and voted for their five favourites.  With so many photos entered for the competition, we need lots of people to vote this month.  One interesting photo has a very slight lead but this could change many times as more votes are cast.

If you have not voted yet please take time to view these fantastic QE2 pictures and vote.

Eight people have voted so far and already there is a spread of votes across many photos.

Remember you can vote for FIVE (5) favourites this month.

What are your favourite photos? Take time to choose and vote.

Not sure how this is even going to be possible...

Even with five votes it was a difficult choice and I found I changed my mind several times before voting for my five favourites.

We need more voters!

Yes indeed :) .

11 people have voted (i.e. we have 55 votes spread over 77 pictures), and there are still very many photos without a single vote.

The prize is worth voting for!

I haven't voted yet, because I'm psyching myself up for such an exercise, and will need to do it in front of my "proper" computer with a freshly brewed coffee!

Two pictures are in the lead at the moment but this could all change when you vote for your five favourite pictures.

Only 13 people have voted so far, so we need lots more people voting to give all the members who contributed a chance of winning.
