It would seem that the QM2 is the only ship where dogs can travel between Europe and the USA.

I know that the QE2 had kennels but has anyone everseen a dog onboard . Are there any photos showing a dog onboard either QE2 or QM2.

Lots of dogs were carried onboard QE2. The reason they weren't seen was that they stayed up in the kennels, or walked on doggie deck, and both those areas were out of bounds to non-dog owning pax. Before I hear comments, yes I know certain people made their way up there, but to the average passenger, they would never have known it existed.

Have a look at the site above and scroll down to find 4 doggie photos on the QM2

and then watch the happy dog onboard QM2 Youtube video.

Thanks for posting this Robert.   It was good to get an insight into "A dogs life on QM2".  Good to see the cats as well, but I am not going to tell my cat or she will be wanting to cruise with us all the time.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

There was a real lamp post on QE2 for the dogs to cock a leg on. I wonder if that's still there?

It certainly was in September 2008, and I see no real reason why it would have gone in the meantime.

Pia and I put a bit of effort into getting there and finding out as much as we could about its then condition :

Quite an unusual sign -- not the expected QE2 style!

And then, anticipation mounted :

These stairs were not out of bounds to passengers!

But finally, we arrived :

Later, we found that this had now become a store room. No animals in the QE2 Kennels for the past ten years or so... and no access to the doggy deck from there... somehow nice though that the sign had remained even after the service had stopped.

We found the doggy lamppost later, by a different route :)

And now, just like Rob's "last car" question, I wonder what was the last animal carried by QE2 -- and why was the service stopped? Were animals carried only on the transatlantic route, or on cruises too?

The Kennels as is in April 1987

I remember thinking when l saw these there was no way l would put a dog in there.
Ok perhaps l was expecting wall to wall carpeting, none the less basic sprang to mind :(

bigger than some inside cabins!  LOL

I do recall seeing them after Qe2 handed the flagship status to QM and as a result all the kennel areas became used for storage which was a real shame I thought....

Pet-Friendly Cruises

Pet Travel from passports cruises offers all the information you need to take your pet on along on a cruise with Cunard Line's famous QE2 (Queen Elizabeth 2). Though pets are required to stay in kennels, there is a "Pets on Deck" policy that offers pet-friendly amenities to furry travelers, such as fresh-baked treats, an array of comfy bets and blankets to choose from, and a souvenir coat with the QE2 logo, gift packs, Frisbees, food dishes and more to commemorate your pet-friendly Trans-Atlantic crossing.

Sounds great!!

Strange isnt it...QE2 kennels are similar in size to the kennels most vets, including my own, recommend for keeping dogs if you go out for the day!
