And how about this? Taken from the QE2Story Bridgecam collection. The location mentioned there is evidently wrong (I think!)...

  • QE2, a home from home - beautiful from all angles!

Unmistakably Rotterdam, the Erasmus Bridge being just ahead of QE2's bow. Knowing her itinerary through Sam Warwick's excellent and very useful QE2 website also helps! I gather you were onboard too Isabelle, with other friends of ours (OLS members) on the trip just before the last my parents and I took on QE2?

First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last stepped foot and sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2, in her new life, in Dubai back in January 2020.

You are right on all counts, Thomas! Although frankly I still cannot recognise the beautiful Erasmus Bridge on the photo. Another bridge?

But the date was Rotterdam all right, and I was there :) . That was a quick one!

It's the section of the bridge that can open up for river traffic further upstream if I recall correctly.

I've circled the area of the Erasmus Bridge visible from QE2's webcam, in one of my photos from arriving into Rotterdam on Marco Polo.

That is extremely well spotted, Thomas, thank you for having set me right. In one of my own pictures of the Erasmus bridge, I write that QE2 must have sailed through the open drawbridge, but I never noticed her doing so.
