March 2021 : Self portrait with QE2
« on: Mar 03, 2021, 07:32 PM »
The theme for this month's photo competition is "Self portrait with QE2", chosen by Hamburger, the winner of the October 2020 competition.

Photos should be taken during QE2's service life, within the ship or from shoreside, in public rooms or in the cabins. You should be in the picture, together with some part, large or small, of QE2.

Enjoy the search :) .

The prize this month is the collection of three posters for Cunard's 175th anniversary, donated by Lynda Bradford.

Please note that the Cunard coasters in the photos are not part of the offer!

Alternatively, depending on circumstances due to Covid-19 restrictions, June Ingram may be able to offer a jigsaw of the prizewinning photograph.

How to enter

The album is open -- so now is the time to look for your three most interesting pictures on this theme. Wishing you happy memories as you search your photo collection to find up to three pictures to upload to the competition album.

Photos entered must be your own, or if not, please mention the name of the photographer for copyright reasons, and so that the owner can win the prize!

This link will take you straight there : Self portrait with QE2.

If you have not uploaded photos to the Forum Gallery before, have a look at these instructions, and if you have any problems, just contact us on admin@theqe2story.com. You could even email the photos to this address, and we can upload them for you.

The deadline for submitting photos is 31 March 2021. Voting will run from 1 April 2021 until 1 May 2021, until everyone's time zone has caught up with the date.

We look forward to seeing your photos in this competition.

This is the sixth month of photos for the 2022 calendar. Maybe your photo will figure there!

Enjoy yourselves!  :)

Good choice of theme for this month's competition. Need to look for photos.

I have uploaded my three photos to the gallery album.

Looking forward to seeing more picture entered for the competition as there must be so many photos of forum members taken on QE2. Time to get out your photo album and look for your three best photos to upload.   :)

Thanks to everyone who has uploaded photos, but we are looking forward to many more photos being uploaded, so time to get your album out and choose 3 self portrait photos with QE2.

Against my better judgement, I have added a few more mug-shots.

Selected my three pictures and only after I had sent the first one I realised a mistake !       The title is  "A self portrait with the QE2 "  and not one taken by somebody else.   So that one had to be deleted.
So it was back to rummaging through my files and finding ones taken using that wonderful little gadget a small tripod, setting the timer and then rushing back to position before the shutter went !!
Sometimes it worked !

I love your photos, you both always look so happy!  That QE2 feeling!  I especially like the joys of 1030!  I would have loved to have travelled in one of those rooms.

I know, it feels unusual to put something so personal into the competition, however its a lovely set of photos now if you look at it!  I cringe when I see my face, but each photo was memorable and I remember taking them to this day.

Maybe Isabelle will clarify but I think a photo taken by someone else is allowed if you can name the photographer.

Yes, Lynda, it was deliberately left open -- so long as the person entering the photo is in the picture, as well as a part of QE2, the photo is eligible.

I think that I should tell the story of 1030.         We had booked for Mauritania but when the tickets arrived,, yes in a leather wallet, I’ve saw that we were in the Queens Grill !        We never got an upgrade from that moment to the present day.
We did have a few more Queens Grill experiences but they were paid for.

Was your upgrade your first QG experience?  it was a heck of an upgrade from Mauritania to QG!
