Excellent footage of the keel laying ceremony in July 1965 including the rigging that was to pull the keel block into place. I finally understand why it did not go as planned and the keel was unceremoniously slid into position two days later. This footage is preceeded by dynamic model testing of the Q4 hull form.

Feltham, Middlesex and the Clyde, Scotland
Various shots, inside the National Physical Laboratory Ship Model Testing Tank at Feltham on 28th June 1965. A 17 foot scale model of the new Cunarder liner, the "Q4", goes through some wave motion tests while fixed onto a gantry moving across the tank. Engineers watch a control panel which gives the necessary data. CU Control panels. (2 shots). Good high shot, gantry moving down the length of the tank. Various shots of tests in operation. The keel started being put into position on 2nd July 1965 at No. 4 building berth.
