Poll: October 2020 Photo Competition QE2 and Bridges
« on: Oct 30, 2020, 07:05 PM »
The theme for the October Competition, "QE2 and Bridges" was chosen by Katharina Ernst, the winner of the June 2020 competition.

Thank you to everyone who submitted pictures, which we really appreciate. We hope that you enjoy choosing and voting for your 3 favourites.  This is the second competition of the new "calendar" year, with winning and runner-up photos going towards the 2022 QE2 Story Calendar.

The prize this month is the DVD "Southampton Gateway to the World", donated by Isabelle Prondzynski

Voting is easy, but you need to be registered as a Forum member and log into the Forum to vote.  Whether or not you have submitted photos, please support those who have participated, by choosing your 3 favourite ones, noting the details, then tick the relevant boxes on the poll.  If you have entered photos, please do not vote for your own pictures.

To make it easier for you, we have posted the pictures below. However, you can also view the photos by clicking the Gallery Album, "QE2 and Bridges", where you can see them all at once, in thumbnail form, plus you can view larger versions of the pictures by clicking on the photos to see medium size, and clicking once more to see them in large size.

You will not see the results of the vote until the poll has closed on 1 December 2020, after all time zones have had a chance to catch up with the voting deadline.

Enjoy the variety in these photos and choose your favourites :) .

As always the choice is yours -- enjoy!

A particularly tricky choice of just three this time - with the wonderful, rarely seen crew perspectives!
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

Good start to the voting but with only 8 people voting so far we need your support to vote for your three favourite photos.

It is interesting to see that the votes are well dispersed, and no clear favourites are emerging so far (9 voters now). Every picture still has a good chance of coming out on top!

11 voters now, and 2 photos edging forward into a narrow lead. There are a lot of photos in this competition, and quite a few have not had a vote yet. Everything is open!

And we are good at counting votes  ;D !

Just one more voter in the meantime, bringing it up to 12, and three photos are in equal lead. This is a fascinating topic, and it is great to see QE2 encountering so many different types of bridges.

Well, as you can see I don't like to rush decisions !       However, now I've made up my mind and cast my votes.

17 voters now, with three pictures a little bit ahead of the others.

Be generous! Take a little time to look and decide which three you like best, and reward them with your votes. Which pictures would you like to see in the 2022 calendars?

18 voters, and just a few hours to go until this competition closes and the December competition is opened. There are three photos contending for the top honours -- give them a boost if you can :) .
