October 2020 : QE2 and bridges
« on: Sep 24, 2020, 03:21 PM »
The theme for this month's photo competition is "QE2 and bridges", chosen by Katharina Ernst, the winner of the June 2020 competition.

QE2's own bridge could be pictured, or the bridge of any other ship viewed from or with QE2. Bridges on land are particularly welcome.

Enjoy the search!

The prize this month is the DVD "Southampton Gateway to the World", donated by me, see picture below.

How to enter

The album is open -- so now is the time to look for your three most interesting pictures on this theme. Wishing you happy memories as you search your photo collection to find up to three pictures to upload to the competition album.

This link will take you straight there : QE2 and bridges.

If you have not uploaded photos to the Forum Gallery before, have a look at these instructions, and if you have any problems, just contact us on admin@theqe2story.com. You could even email the photos to this address, and we can upload them for you.

The deadline for submitting photos is 31 October 2020. Voting will run from 1 November 2020 until 30 November 2020, until everyone's time zone has caught up with the date.

We look forward to seeing your photos in this month's competition.

This is the second month of photos for the 2022 calendar. Maybe your photo will figure there!

Enjoy yourselves!  :)

I am looking forward to seeing the entries for the October competition "QE2 and Bridges" which is now open.

I remember there were lots of cameras to the ready when the ship sailed under a bridge, so hoping we have lots of entries.

Good luck!
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Cannot believe how long it is since I uploaded to the comp.
We are still living out of boxes 8months on & I cannot find my master cd, so in the interim I have taken photos from photos (again), the result is not good , but will upload the proper thing when I can... :-[

Trouble is that when you are onboard QE2 you get some great shots of the bridges and none of the ship!!!!

Great to see even more photos from that wonderful late July 2008 Med cruise (our last voyage onboard).

Dad's video from our departure that day:

First travelled on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last stepped foot and travelled on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008 - we had the better view!

There are 16 photos by 7 members entered now.

There is still time to add to this number -- all the more so, since QE2's own bridge is not excluded (although land-based bridges are particularly welcome).

Have a look -- it is such a pleasure to see the collection building up!

There is still time to enter three of your photos of QE2 and Bridges in the upcoming photo competition ! If you haven't yet, please look through your photos and see what you find. Do you have a photo of being on QE2's bridge and looking at another bridge ? How about being on a bridge looking at QE's bridge ? Or any bridge and QE2 ! There are many exciting possibilities !  :) :)
QE2 - the ship for all of time, a ship of timeless beauty !
