Silver Anniversary Portraits

QE2's 8 - 13 May 1994 Southampton to New York crossing was designated as her official Silver Anniversary Crossing to mark the 25th Anniversary of her first crossing to New York (2 - 7 May 1969).

The Central Office of Information sent a photographer (Alan Chandler) on that voyage and below are some portraits he captured - of Commodore Bil Warwick who was sailing with his son Ron. And of Commodore Burton-Hall who was in command that trip.

The COI hired a helicopter to capture QE2's departure from New York on 13 May - here are some of Alan Chandler's shots.

Wonderful historic photos, including of the Captain's (main) Cabin and Office just inside from the bit beneath the bridge and now sadly history in Dubai.
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last stepped foot and sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2, in her new life, in Dubai back in January 2020.

Incredible and historic photos, in all sorts of ways.

I enjoyed a captains cocktail party in his office in August 2008 with my mum.  There was a very nice swell going, and we had to hold onto that table on the right with one hand, and our drink with the other!  Then in 2011 I was Captain Cooper's guest, the room was unchanged, and we enjoyed coffee and a chat.

Excellent photos.  I love the pictures of QE2 leaving New York
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Some of the cooling fans of one of the electric motors, if I recall correctly?

I remember walking down those steps on the left and suddenly realising what I was looking at there, amazing.
