For anyone choosing to join this this evening

- please use a headset if at all possible.

- please use the "mute" feature, if you can, when not speaking.

- Because we're on the free version, the chat will end automatically after 40 minutes.  I believe after this happens, we can just restart it, but we'll see how it goes.  This is mainly to establish if members want this, before we commit more effort or funds to it.

The chat has just finished. It was great to meet you all face to face, after about a decade, and I look forward to future chats - talking more QE2!

Thanks for your help with it Thomas.

It was great fun, and I'm glad it worked so well.  It was great to put new faces to old names, and to catch up with the others!  Will we do it the same next next week, but a bit later maybe?

Ideas for webinars appreciated, and thank you to Phil for volunteering

Glad the chat was a success. When I realised I would need a headset I decided not to participate. I have IPods but need to look for headsets, sure we must have a set somewhere!

As far as I know, headsets are only needed if you want to protect your neighbours from the noise of a babbling community! For speaking, it might be easier to be heard if you have the sort of headset that includes a mouthpiece -- but I shall solve this issue next time by sitting a bit closer to the mic on my computer :) .

No worries :)

Looking forward to chatting again next week around the same sort of time or slightly later.

I would be interested in giving a webinar, perhaps covering my visit to the ship back in January (linking back to the old seagoing days a lot too for anecdotes and comparison) and maybe tying it in with the project I contributed to whilst onboard if said project sees the light of day in the coming weeks/months which would appear to be the case.

Per yesterday's part of the conversation saying we need another excuse to gather, I looked at the QE2 anniversaries page and found a few coming up on their 50th.  We just all need to agree on a date.

Hi Bob - It was So so good to see you - and it sounds like the new job'll be Very interesting.
That is really kind of you, however Please don't think another thing about the NASA T-Shirt - it was an off the cuff impulse!
We've been to Cape Canaveral - Wonderful experience it was too - and although I could have bought one there, I didn't, smply because I really didn't and still don't actually need one!

(Way off topic!)
Btw - Currently - the epic "pan-epidemonium" is causing interesting side effects here - no  airplane noise or trails, or exhausts, birdsong louder than it was before, diesel exhausts cut down by (guessing) 60+% on our local M25 motorway, and the air really does seem cleaner - and the stars seem brighter.
Stay safe and well - and hopefully, see you very soon  :)

Rosie
QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for nearly 12 years.  Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.

I'm just sorry that QE2 missed our party! :(

It is interesting how the screens all looked different for us! I wish I had taken a screenshot to show you what I was seeing. Rob, how did you manage to get all the pictures of participants into the one screen, all of them the same size?

This is really weird Rob - on my screen, the window with view of You was definitely on your Left hand side!
And everyone was along the top of the screen, in exactly the same position as they were  on Thursday.

Hoping the sun's shining up there?
Rosie.

As above in Cunarder Man's post!
