From the article, it seems that the "business hub" will take over the entire Quarterdeck. I wonder what this will do to mobility around the ship?

Attached to the article is quite an extensive collection of photos. I cannot at present place the one called "Yacht Club restaurant". Is this really the Yacht Club we knew?

Plans to turn the main galley into working spaces too.The Mauretania Restaurant might have the same fate.Other areas on the ship will also be turned into meetings like the nursery/officer cabins on Sun Deck,on Three Deck and most likely some of the ex crew areas

In Glasgow, umpteen old office blocks have been torn down to be replaced with modern, square buildings with modern facilities and false floors and ceilings etc.  They're totally functional, and it's cheaper to rebuild than retrofit the old buildings.

When I say old, by the way, they can be anything from the 1800s, up to the 1980s!

The only exceptions have been where the frontages are listed, so they keep the front and add a new building glued on behind.

That's my comment on the matter...

Putting nostalgia aside I think this is a great idea. Yes it will be a shame if some of the familiar places onboard will be off limits if you are visiting the ship, but I think maybe the RMS Queen Mary's owners should take a cue from this. Speaking as ex-casino staff I say if those slot machines are non-functional get them out of there and use the space more effectively!

She was such a uniquely special historic ship, she deserved better.

She's just in the wrong place.

SS Rotterdam, that is all.
