See attached the totally iconic photograph of Queen Mary 2 with Queen Elizabeth 2 in Port Everglades, Florida exactly 13 years ago today.

I have a few other photos that are © Rick Chambon.  Does anyone know him?

Also do you have photos of this day in your collection?

  • QE2 started a dream to go to sea - now a reality!
How time has flown by, and how much has changed in just 13 years...
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

I was on Sun Princess - during my 'ethnic cleansing period' - at the time and we were on the opposite side of the port, Berth No 2.
It's very nostalgic to remember that day and seeing two ships you'd sailed on both in port together, managed to nip across to have a coffee with Capt McN and St Captain. I've got some photos somewhere, must try to find them.

Great memory.  Does it feel like 13 years?

Sometimes more, but mostly it feels like only yesterday.

Ahh but I still love this classic of QE2, Saga and Vista. Taken by and copyright to my good friend Jerry Clarke.
