Jigsaw under the Mauretania
« on: Dec 24, 2019, 12:43 PM »
I am planning to use some of this Christmas break for my usual jigsaw puzzling, and I am most grateful to June, who gifted me with a brand-new QE2 photo competition prize that I have just set out on the table. This is an interior, and for once, I shall have neither sea nor sky to contend with.  :)

WOW that looks a bit black, good luck Isabelle ;)

I have allowed the refit crew to go first for the low hanging fruit. This at least will fill part of the frame and will also enable them to sort out all the other items that have been jumbled together, so as to identify them and allocate them eventually to their correct places.

When engaged on a refit, I foolishly try not to look at the plans and diagrams, in other words at the original photograph. And so, I have only just discovered that there is quite an acreage of sea in this picture, as the Mauretania is surrounded by green waves...

I think I'd be tempted to keep that beauty in one piece when completed, put a glass top on it & use it as a coffee table top/ conversation piece,

I do believe the refit is taking place at The Prondzynski International Shipyard, Prestige Division.   :)

Just a little bit of progress has been made. I am amused by "my own" reflection in the jigsaw as it takes shape.

It was a very clever idea for a jigsaw!!

I can't believe it's so long since I put pieces into that Jigsaw. Feels like yesterday.

It's a really tough jigsaw... while the colours can all be clearly distinguished by daylight, it is almost impossible at night time. I am still progressing slowly, but need to speed up a bit, as the table will be needed for other purposes from Saturday :) .

It looks like a really difficult jigsaw.  I am impressed with the progress, Isabelle.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Apologies, Lynda... I finished it a month ago and have been so busy since then. But it did strike me the other day that I had not yet uploaded the final photos. It was a great jigsaw! Photos coming soon :) .

Here come the final pictures. It was a race to the finish!

One day after that previous posting, I managed to complete it... except for one piece, which was "lost" (and of course :) had slowed me down hugely). It turned out to have hidden safely under my desk.

I really enjoyed that jigsaw, which brought back happy memories and, as a jigsaw, was challenging enough to keep me well occupied over the extended Christmas period! Thank you, June, for this marvellous prize  ;D .

Great job, Isabelle !  And it does indeed look like a challenging jigsaw.  I am sure the missing piece was in hiding so QE2 (jigsaw) could spend more time at your shipyard !   :)

I am going through all the QE2 jigsaws at present, in order to locate them and see whether any of them need to be sent on or returned to their original owners.

The "Jigsaw under the Mauretania" was a photo competition prize that June had very kindly sent me. It is here with me and accounted for. It will be a joy to try it again another Christmas!
