Poll September 2019 Competition : QE2 in Port
« on: Sep 25, 2019, 03:36 PM »
The theme for the September Competition "QE2 in Port" was chosen by a special vote by members of The Forum.

Thank you to everyone who submitted pictures, a record number of 74, which we really appreciate. Given the large number, we hope that you enjoy choosing and voting for your 5 favourites.  This is the first competition of the new "calendar" year with winning and runner up winning photos going toward the 2020 QE2 Calendar.

The prize this month is a signed copy of the book "QE2, the Cunard Line Flagship", donated by the authors, Commodore Ron Warwick and Sam Warwick, with a special bookplate, signed by both authors, and with a copy of Bil Warwick's signature.

Voting is easy, but you need to be registered as a Forum member and log into the Forum to vote.  Whether or not you have submitted photos, please support those who have participated, by choosing your five favourite ones, noting the details, then tick the relevant box on the poll.  If you have entered photos please do not vote for your own pictures.

To make it easier for you, we have posted the pictures below, however you can also view the photos by clicking the Gallery Album, "QE2 in port", where you can see them all at once, in thumbnail form, plus you can view larger versions of the pictures by clicking on the photo to see medium size, and click once more to see them in large size.

You will not see the results of the vote until the poll has closed on 1 November 2019, after all time zones have had a chance to catch up with the voting deadline.

As always the choice is yours - enjoy!

Poll for the September competition now open and ready for your five (5) votes

We set forum members a challenge to upload at least 52 photos to celebrate fifty-two years since the launch of QE2 in Clydebank. I am happy to announce that our members surpassed the challenge uploading 74 photos to the competition album.

There are so many excellent photos of "QE2 in Port" that we have decided that for this month you should have five votes to choose your favourite photos.

Take time to enjoy this trip down memory lane of QE2 visiting many ports throughout the World.

Do you think we should set a challenge to exceed the maximum number of previous competition voters?

What a fabulous collection of pictures! Do enjoy browsing through them and selecting your five favourites.

Big thanks to all the photographers who have contributed to making this such an excellent competition, ready for an exceptional prize to be won. I hope you will all be back to cast your votes, so that even in terms of the numbers of voters, this will be a stand-out competition.

And you think thats going to make it any easier.... ::)

BUT it does show what can be achieved..Now if we could link them to the dark side and get traffic over here to vote , it might be a real eye opener . How would it work if a few were posted on the dark side each day and the members here liked them, would that give increased traffic ??

Voted but very difficult to make a choice of just five pictures.

Done... and good grief, what a choice.  OK, so we had 5 votes instead of 3, but we could have done with 74 votes... honest!

Another tricky few choices even with five votes. All wonderful photos of a wonderful ship. Great to see so many photos entered in one month.
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

Not easy at all, with so many quality photos to choose from.

I've had to use 2 browser windows beside each other to do it this time!

19 voters so far. There are still many photos that have not received even a single vote!

Your vote can help someone to win the special prize of the Warwicks' new book :) .
