Hi Rob,
just a note that copying of these can be somewhat prevented by adding what's called an applet
to each photo if they are displayed through this website, The applet prevents right clicking.
I did this on a photography site that I had, worked very well, it does not prevent printing the screen
from a PC but does stop high quality copies.

Are these official John Brown photos? If not who took them I wonder.

I have photos taken in James Lamont & Co Ltd's Port Glasgow and Greenock yards from the mid 40s to the early 70s - they were all official yard photos taken by a local photography company in Greenock.

I wonder if its the same setup for these or whether JB had their own in house photographer?

What about a DVD that allows people to use them for screen savers or does that open them up for copying ?
It might seem there is scope for a few different projects..products etc

While a calendar can be a good thing, what about a version with no calendar format..
Or why not throw the topic out there for ideas..

The forum has a Golden Goose, from which could lay some golden eggs and while money may not be an overiding factor, it does certainly need to be considered.

Can you imagine going to a screening and seeing just one of the photos on a banner display outside the location ..and there are many more to come. Im still stunned by the rolling footage of QE2 at the V&A in Dundee...that for me alone was worth the price for the whole weekend ..

And who on earth would or could write the forward for the book..... are we thinking a print on demand or the other style of books

If you want to tease us even more Rob just show a tiny fraction of a slide  with a "Guess what this is..."

From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

That is good news, and delighted to know that the suggestion's being taken seriously!
"The QE2 Story - Keeping the legend alive"
As well as containing some excellent photographs, together with their own copyright, and very much hoping that it'll be written by yourself and perhaps Flagship too.
The contents and index will be superb!
'Vivat QE2'!

QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for nearly 12 years.  Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.

Oft what a cracker!!

I have not seen a photo of her in Inchgreen from that angle before - cheers Rob!

The BP funnel over the top of the shed is  (if I recall correctly) Swan Hunter built tanker British Argosy (1966) - waiting for the tank cleaning berth.

I have actually, I think, figured out who the photographer is... but I don't want to say yet in public.  He appears to be from a supplier who was working on board installing equipment.

And he no longer owns the copyright?

Tonight's photo is for Rod!

They're both from the same slide.

Believed to be January 1969... somewhere...

I believe not, because I have the originals, and the seller has told me that the copyright comes with them.

Speaking of identifying people... how about this... and is that the original wardroom decor?  It looks very modern and stylish - even now I think!

One on the left is Hughie Cameron later to become Chief Electrician, do not know the other 2.

As to decor, yes I think it could be. Curtains were there in 71 when I joined as well as the tables and white chairs. The brown chairs later had flat wooden tops added to the arms.

On the photos that I believe are from the December 68 to Jan 69 trials, this chap appears singing in the Queens Room and double down room. Was he someone famous?

This is extraordinary,  hopefully the seller (?"Crew"!) might like/ be able to join us at a future Gathering :)
Is there anyway that you can convey very many sincere thanks?

And...Waverley, Hi, and Thank You so much, again - it was you who found the gold at the end of the rainbow!
Just wishing we could have a Gathering in the Summer too!
