  • Beautiful, elegant QE2 - forever Queen of the Seas
The theme for the October competition "The QE2 Library and Bookshop" was chosen by Thomas Hypher.

Thank you to everyone who submitted pictures, which we really appreciate, and we hope that you enjoy choosing and voting for your 3 favourites.

Voting is easy, but you need to be registered as a Forum member and log into the Forum to vote.  Whether or not you have submitted photos, please support those who have participated, by choosing your three favourite ones, noting the details, then tick the relevant box on the poll.  If you have entered photos please do not vote for your own pictures.

To make it easier for you, we have posted the pictures below, however you can also view the photos in the Gallery Album, "The QE2 Library and Bookshop", where you can see them all at once, in thumbnail form, plus you can view larger versions of the pictures by clicking on the photo to see medium size, and click once more to see them in large size.

You will not see the results of the vote until the poll has closed on 1 December 2018, after all time zones have had a chance to catch up with the voting deadline.

As always the choice is yours - enjoy!

The poll for the October photo competition is now open ready for your votes.

On one hand we were sorry to see that there are only 14 photos entered for the competition, but on the other hand the photos are of such exceptional quality that capture a very special area on QE2 where passengers enjoyed spending time reading in the Library or browsing in the bookshop.

There may be a small number of photos but we are hoping for a big number of voters.  Please enjoy viewing the photos and vote.

  • At Mach 2 three days after being on QE2...
A small number it may be, but that doesn't necessarily make it any easier to choose just three...

I agree Peter, I had difficulty choosing from these excellent photos.

There were believe it or not , simply some things you didnt take a photo of. The Library being my case . In fact if truth be told l was never in the book lending  part , but rather more in the souvenir side.
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

Good start to the voting, please vote for your favourites and make this a winner for the number of voters!  :)

Five people voted so far -  even one member logging in and voting each day this month, would be a huge support for the Photo Competition.

If you have not voted yet have a look at the pictures of the library and bookshop and vote for your three favourites.

Although the photos are maybe not as dramatic as in some previous competitions (when some of the photos have literally taken my breath away) these photos are all really lovely, and take you back in time to walking around those two lovely rooms.  The Shop especially was very exciting for me, and I had to contain myself inside it to not over-spend.

I am sad the shop hasn't been reincarnated in Dubai as 1 small corner on board dedicated to Ocean Liners and the QE2's history.  It could be crammed full of bits and bobs of QE2 memorabilia old and new, and would be a small global destination for ship-lovers, the same way that QE2's in-service shop was.

  • QE2 started a dream to go to sea - now a reality!
Tricky to choose although the memories of spending many hours in the library part makes me just a bit biased  ;)
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

I am still using my QE2 address book bought in the stationary shop on QE2 - 2008 on our trip around Britain.  Very fond memories.

Fantastic that the QE2 address book is still being used.  I loved the souvenirs that could be purchased in the shop.

I hope you have enjoyed looking the photos and choosing what 3 photos to vote for!

I have just now voted and now there are 10 voters.

These photos are great, and it was a very difficult decision.

Please log in and vote and let's make this competition have a record number of voters !   :)
