17 voters this month, and just a few days left. Have we ever had so few?

Please let us know if you have decided that the photo competition is no longer of any interest to you.

Personally, I would love to see it continuing for at least another calendar year (and longer!), as it helps us to gather lots of excellent photos and memories to treasure and discuss here.

Like Isabelle, I would like to hear if forum members are still interested in the Photo Competition.  As Thomas said, we have seen so many photo that would have remained in photo albums had we not had the competition.

I know many people do not have time to look for photos in their albums, but I cannot understand why more forum members are not voting to support those that have contributed and to make a success of the competition.

Your support is appreciated -  please have a look at the entries for the September competition and vote.

If you think we should be doing something different to encourage more support for the competition, we would like to hear your ideas.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Ill need to run a report on everyone who's logged in during the last month to get an idea of the level of support.  So few bother to log in that 17 may actually be quite a high %

Passionate about QE2's service life for 40 years and creator of this website.  I have worked in IT for 28 years and created my personal QE2 website in 1994.

  • QE2 started a dream to go to sea - now a reality!

It often seems to be a core of regularly logged in members of the forum who vote. How to expand on that is a big problem to say the least, unfortunately, given the already existing social media presence and following  :(
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

We have 18 voters now, with one clear leader and three photos running for the runner-up position.

As you know, it does the photographers good to receive even one vote for their picture. But you do have to be logged in to cast your vote and show your appreciation :) .

Iv been saying that for years , others are happy to post on the other social networks out there and you see or appear to see nothing of them on here . They are, as  they say on the other side.  There are several QE2 sites on Facebook and all have various members posting on a very regular basis, what stops them posting on here ?
I do often wonder what a newbie must make of here, theres a vast vast wealth of posts on here, just where do they start.

Look at the numbers who attended the conference,They must have seen or read about the forum somewhere l would have really imagined things would have increased since then, but alas it seems not to be the case.   I have no idea what the solutuion is , other than Carry on QE2ing on here  .

From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

  • At Mach 2 three days after being on QE2...

That's a very good question especially since it is far easier to search for past posts, photos, details etc on a forum than it is on Facebook or similar.  A forum layout with categories and threads is also vastly easier to navigate.
