  • Beautiful, elegant QE2 - forever Queen of the Seas
The theme for the September competition "QE2 together with other iconic liners/ships" was chosen by Scott Ebersold.

Thank you to everyone who submitted pictures, which we really appreciate, and we hope that you enjoy choosing and voting for your 3 favourites.

Voting is easy, but you need to be registered as a Forum member and log into the Forum to vote.  Whether or not you have submitted photos, please support those who have participated, by choosing your three favourite ones, noting the details, then tick the relevant box on the poll.  If you have entered photos please do not vote for your own pictures.

To make it easier for you, we have posted the pictures below, however you can also view the photos in the Gallery Album "QE2 together with other iconic ships/liners", where you can see them all at once, in thumbnail form, plus you can view larger versions of the pictures by clicking on the photo to see medium size, and click once more to see them in large size.

You will not see the result of the vote until the poll has closed on 1 November 2018, after all time zones have had a chance to catch up with the voting deadline.

As always the choice is yours - enjoy!

We thought we would give you a few extra days to enjoy the "looking up at QE2" photos before opening the poll for the September competition, QE2 with other iconic Liners/Ships which is now open ready for your votes.

Enjoy these wonderful pictures!
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

  • QE2 started a dream to go to sea - now a reality!
Just voted. Brought back memories of the final tandem transatlantic (Eastbound) almost exactly a decade ago now - interesting to see some of the photos from QE2's perspective for the rare tandems but we had the better view on QM2 though ;) .
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

What a great set of photos!

I had no idea how much smaller Canberra was compared to QE2 but that shot definitely shows it.

I had to vote for the one with Norway - only wish I had been able to see them both together with my own eyes.

The poll seems to have got stuck at 14 voters for quite a few days now.

There are still lots of photos without even one vote... go on, make someone's day (at the end of the month)!

Not been a good forum member of late, but never forget to vote (even if it is a bit late).
Notice that in the Civitavecchia photo, the ferry in centre background is currently serving as Saga Sapphire,
might've been picked up in my absence  sorry if so.
off topic thank you  Lynda again for another fine newsletter.......

Saga Sapphire started off as the third Europa (Hapag Lloyd). She was serving as Bleu de France back in July 2008 when I took the photo. She is now 37 years old and from what I've read very much on her last legs mechanically.

17 voters this month, and just a few days left. Have we ever had so few?

Please let us know if you have decided that the photo competition is no longer of any interest to you.

Personally, I would love to see it continuing for at least another calendar year (and longer!), as it helps us to gather lots of excellent photos and memories to treasure and discuss here.

Personally it would be great for the photo competitions and the calendar to carry on. Wonderful photos that wouldn't necessarily see the light of day so to speak get to be seen.
