Yes, I remember passenger lists! I kept all mine from Union Castle, P&O and Cunard in the 1960s and early 1970s, when they generally stopped printing them. Interestingly, a passenger list was issued on the QE2 world cruises right up until 2007 when we were aboard, compiled for each of the large segments. We had forms to fill in for each of the segment we were on to specify how we would like to be listed or if we wanted to be be omitted.

On the Cape Town to Southampton segment on the 2007 wc the passengers on the table next to us changed and the lady joining announced to the waiters that her first time on QE2 was in October 1970. My ears pricked up because that was when I took my first QE2 voyage! It turned out that we each recalled many things from the same trip and we agreed that when we returned home we would dig out our passenger lists and look for each other. She gave me her maiden name and sure enough, there she was! She emailed me a few days later to say she had found my name too. They're a sadly missed part of a voyage these days.

It was done until 2008 :) But the frequency had been reduced to once a month rather than once per sector.

We have received a message from Beryl who is looking for information on her grandmother's journey to South Africa in 1970's.

Does anyone have the passenger list for the 1970 voyage or the 1975 voyage?

Quote
I am searching for my grandmother, who sailed from the UK to Cape Town, 1970 or close thereto.  Her name is Gladys Peters, or Gladys Sharpe.  She came to visit her family. Please can you assist me.

The maiden call to Cape Town was 10 November 1970 followed by the second visit in 29 January 1975 see QE2 Abstract Log for information on Port Calls to Cape Town

Any help appreciated

Although there has not been response for a passenger list for the 1970 cruise to South Africa, Michael Gallagher did find the brochure for the cruise, which I have added to the memorabilia album.

Still looking for the passenger list. Given that there was an option to fly to the Canary Isles and join the ship there, it is maybe the passenger list from there to SA that would show the name of the passenger. Plus does anyone know where the enquirer could find the passenger list for the flight?
