That's the new carpet and ceiling lighting in the Queens Room for sure...Did Richard travel or visit QE2 back in the old days?
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

I have no record of him travelling but Virgin Group seriously considered buying Cunard in 1996 when others, such as P&O and Prudential, were also actively considering buying the company.

At around 24 minutes in you get to see smart white (leather?) chairs in Queens Room. Is this the new furniture for the room?

The interesting thing today, is seeing Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem on board QE2, in exactly the role and condition in which he was working on in 2012, before the unfortunate events of Dec 2012 to 2015 kicked off ...    He is one of the main people involved in QE2 in her time in Dubai

Good interview here -

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/29/cnbc-interview-with-sir-richard-branson-founder-virgin-group-chairman-virgin-hyperloop-one-and-sultan-ahmed-bin-sulayem-group-chairman-ceo-dp-world.html

Quote
Branson: Sorry I was just going to say I think what Sultan has done then with the QE 2 is as a somebody was born in Britain has a British accent. It's nothing short of miraculous. I mean it's wonderful that to bring a ship that has so much history back alive again. As a musing aside I was once crossed the Atlantic on a boat and we sank. I was in a rubber dinghy radioing for help and I was told that the QE 2 was coming to my rescue. And I never, never got there but I never got there in fact the banana boat got there first. So this is my first time on the QE2 but it very nearly meant a lot to me as well.

Thank you Rob, so Richard has never been onboard QE2 until earlier today - very surprising particularly with Michael's information above about Virgin being interested in Cunard in the mid to late 90s!

Okay I have a concern here. There is carpeting over some lights. Is this a fire hazard? It can be seen in the video link Michael posted.

Where abouts in that video of the livestream?  :)

LED strip lighting won't get that hot as far as I know and LED lighting in general compared to tungsten and other older types of lighting again as far as I know?
