Here is an idea of the prices we paid.  We have converted them to pounds.

Bed & Breakfast £178.70 per night
Bottle of beer in Golden Lion £10.46
Buffet dinner in Maurentania £42.00 each (including coffee which was extra)
Coca Cola in Yacht Club £3.35
Coffee in Lobby Lounge £3.14

The room rates on the website are subject to additional fees as follows.
10% service charge / 5% VAT / 10% Municipality fee / plus a tourism fee of £3.00 per night.  These charges are added in other hotels in Dubai too.  There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room plus bottled water and toiletries.

The shuttle bus from the hotel runs to several beaches and areas within the city and it is free of charge.  The taxis are very reasonable in Dubai.  The Wi-Fi is also free of charge.

Thanks for the prices, which are very useful for planning ahead.

Was there transport organised from the Airport to the ship?  If yes was there a charge and if no what arrangements did you make to ensure you had transfers.

We just used a metered taxi.  They are very good and reasonable.  It was about £10.00 each way. (just depends on traffic)!

I’ve just been sent this, in exchange for showing a UK passport you can stay on QE2 for 375 Dirhams, for a cabin, which I make out to be just over £77, includes breakfast in the Lido too...

Great to see! Remembering her roots. Just need a former passenger package alongside this and the former crew package so that our overseas friends and former passengers can have a discount and perks too in this soft opening period.
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

Every QE2 Story forum member who's gone aboard has had a few perks so far I think!

Yes Rob, the crew on board were very welcoming to my wife and I, very interested in the forum and did indeed look after us very well!

We are planning to return for the full opening later in the year...somehow, after years of asking, I am determined to see the engine room!!
