The QE2 Museum is excellent and quite buzzing this morning, people browsing, meeting and taking coffee...amid the library books and memorabilia...together with some fantastic recreations of the bridge, Queens Room, cabins etc...a huge success!

The service on board has been excellent...everyone here is so interested in the ship and keen to hear what it was like to sail on her...it’s a real joy sharing old stories and experiences with them!

For clarity, we are staying on the, originally named, Sun Deck!

Hi Alex,

Firstly thanks so much for posting all the photos and comments.

Could I enquire as to the costs on board please? I'm getting plenty of questions from people here in the office at Howden!

Cheers

Gav

Gav, next time we’re in a bar I’ll send you the price list...my wife says that on booking.com there are some very good deals at the moment...

My understanding is the former library and bookshop is now a Mejlis, which is a traditional Arab sitting, or meeting room.  If anyone understands this better, please say...we thought it rather special.

The shore-side terminal is now home to the original library books...an interesting showcase of what passengers were reading in 2008!

Guys...we’re just having a conversation here...about the Boardroom...in short...where was it?

Thanks, we remember the room, but not it’s location...

Cheers,

Alex

'Afterrnoon Alex,

You are Fantastic - Thanks So much...and importantly, hoping too that you wont feel too sad at waving her Farewell....QE2 will be exceptionally delighted to have seen you again. :)

I think Rob mentioned the Glass Display Cabinets (at least two!) on the stairway landings - so sorry to bleat on about these, are they in evidence...at all, yet?

Also - The Queens Room - Do you remember the rectangular wooden 'longish cases', which made the lovely boundaried area around the ballroom floor, they had plants, as well as seats and along top there used to be a round flat domes big lights.
I'll see if I can find a photo - it looks as if they may have disappeared to make extra space....

And the Boardroom
Port side on the Boat Deck - in the same place, on the opposite side as the Queens Grill Lounge, I think.
It was a very special place indeed - ideal fror letter writing as well as reading quietly!
More here - I have pics, although no time to find them at the moment!
