April 2018 competition : Original Features
« on: Apr 03, 2018, 04:38 AM »
This month's theme is "Original features", chosen by me, Isabelle Prondzynski, the winner of the January 2018 competition.

These could be exterior or interior features, but they need to be original.

The prize this month is a copy of the poster "Cunard Line the most famous ocean liners in the world", donated by the artist, Marc-Antoine Bombail.

Alternatively, June Ingram is offering a jigsaw of the prizewinning picture. The choice is yours -- which will it be?

The album is open -  so now is the time to look for your most interesting pictures on this theme. Wishing you happy memories as you search your photo collection to find up to three pictures to upload to the competition album.

This link will take you straight there : Original Features.

If you have not uploaded photos to the Forum Gallery before, have a look at these instructions, and if you have any problems, just contact us on admin@theqe2story.com. You could even email the photos to this address, and we can upload them for you.

The deadline for submitting photos is 30 April 2018. Voting will run from 1 May 2018 until 31 May 2018.

We look forward to seeing your photos in this month's competition.

This is the eighth month of photos for the 2019 calendar. Maybe your photo will figure there!

Enjoy yourselves!  :)

Isabelle
Congratulations!
This is a great, and possibly quite challenging subject :)
It possibly might even call for Specialist advice....

Did you have thoughts too about there being a Topic for posts on the subject at a later date?
Thinking here that it could be a very Good Thing to do ;)
All the best
Rosie

I found it very hard to limit myself to three photos here...

Hope you will also enjoy searching through your pictures and enjoying again the little treasures which we met daily on board. Many of these have now been replaced with more standard hotel furniture, so let us appreciate QE2's quirks as we knew them, one more time!

A tricky topic to find photos for, but I just about managed using my own photos this time. Great to see photos of her original features we remember and don't really remember (overlooked, took for granted, or rarely saw onboard).

First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

We need more photos for the April competition.  While it may be difficult to find your photos of any original features, please look about some more and see if we can have a great representation of original features of our QE2 from which voters may choose !  Upload your three and we can help if you have any problems.  :)
QE2 - the ship for all of time, a ship of timeless beauty !

Original Features
It would be interesting to know exactly when 'Original' began? ;)
For example - Please, can anyone say whether the Cunard Benches are 'Original'?

Rosie, they are if you say they are!
Once I get done with this run of nightshift, I have a couple of photos in mind to upload which I think are original or nearly so, but maybe I'll be disqualified  :P
