Thanks Rod,

Lost half an inch - who was rubbing them on what? Blame the pilots.

Think of how many sets of golf clubs with that lot!

Hope all is well with you.

Cheers,
Skilly

One of SS Rotterdam's propellers

The one from RMS Lusitania in Liverpool is mounted with a cone - it looks much more impressive.
Hopefully, the same will happen for those recently removed from QE2's great hull.

Hopefully, someone shoreside in Dubai might look at this one first - Please!

They should mount the props on some kind of concrete structure so that they are close to their operational orientation, would look much more impressive than laid flat!!

They should be inside the terminal, revolving slowly automatically.

.... on either side (Port and STBD) of the doors leading to the Gangway!

All I can say is that to my eyes they were designed to be powerful, efficient and do the job, I don't think they look particularly good on a plinth!

What is it that encourages ship preservers to chop bits off their "exhibit" to make it easier for us to see, I was appalled to see bits of Britannia chopped away for easier viewing and now this.  I understand there were engineering issues leading to prop removal, but displaying the amputated bits on the shore merely highlights their exhibit is no longer working or complete to me...

The best way to display QE2 would be as if she was about to sail, no daft colourful pipes, minimal fixed connection to shore and a clear shoreside...

Like the SS Rotterdam team proved years ago.... She appears ready to sail at a moment's notice, yet is serving as a busy hotel and events venue. With lifeboats...
