That makes me wonder given the amount of asbestos they've had to remove, what else have they had to remove to get to it.

This confirms that the only remaining crane (post 1992) has been swapped from the port side to starboard side likely for further use in her new static roles (hotel and museum). Wonder if it's using the stub of the original port side crane that was left after 1987?

They used a brown / maroonish undercoat. It appears that they also took out the chains to the anchors. They are doing a good job making her look gorgeous.

They have indeed done both. The anchors themselves are now welded in place.

Her foredeck anchor mechanisms (not sure what they're called) will look odd now to be honest, although I hope they're not removed as well as they are part of her design and character... a blank/cleared/empty foredeck will be a shame.

Now see Thomas if they are "playin wae the heed" as we say in Scotland they will have left lengths of anchor chain welded in place on the foredeck as if there are anchor chains installed.

Looking at the items of hardware on the quayside I wonder if some aux plant has been removed to make way for new "static friendly" replacements.

It certainly doesn't look like a half assed job - I await the result with interest and am personally glad something remotely positive is happening to her - it certainly beats being rafted up against a tanker with the shell doors open to the elements!

I should've been more specific, I was talking about the lack of anchor chains in the windlasses - it will look odd in my opinion and I hope it doesn't lead to the removal of the windlasses as that would leave the foredeck looking quite naked. I am aware of the other foredeck equipment and their uses and how they changed over the years (quite a lot in some cases) they are all part of her charm, personal memories, and as you say will never look odd!

I did wonder if they'll add a section of anchor chains back in to the windlasses (thank you Rosie for the name of the equipment as I'd forgotten it!) so it doesn't look bare and in my opinion odd as it almost always had anchor chains.

Dubai are certainly serious this time, and are taking good care of her considering she was never going to go back to sea - finally putting in place a reasonable static use plan (hotel and museum).
