When they dry dock a ship, and she sits on the blocks, how do they paint where the blocks go? 

I was wondering exactly the same thing

I have been told that they can't get under the sections on the blocks so they alternate the blocks at the next drydock and this get to those sections then...

I think I've heard they also use an excess of blocks sometimes which allows them to remove one or two at a time and paint. This applying to new builds with no paint, in particular.

This looks like some sort of primer on her underwater hull. Good to see - and they removed the sea life and stripped the paint or painted over it quickly! I think this drydock period (probably like her others) is a 24 hour operation for the 2 weeks she's there this time.

Another word about Instagram posts specifically.  We don't "take" the photos, we just embed a link/share to them.   i.e. if the person subsequently removes the photo from Instagram (or makes it private) it will immediately disappear from here too.   The advantage is that permission does not have to be sought, and the Instagram author has control.

It is actually better for us to get permission from the author to re-post the photo, and then attach it to the post.  Lots of image hosting website have come and gone since we started in 2009, which is why you find many images have disappeared on older posts.

  Announce the time/date of her move, get the press out there to watch her glide past, gleaming to her berth, and at that point give them their tickets to the launch party.  I have my fingers crossed. 

One hopes they have a ticket with your name on it !

As QE2 spends her Day 4 (22nd March) at the Dubai Dry Docks lets go back to history to this very same day back in 1997 when QE2 made her maiden call to Dubai

This is fantastic to see, QE2 getting the TLC she deserves in Dubai. Pending the successful opening of her in a near original condition, I would be very interested in a visit to Dubai! Thanks everyone for sourcing and sharing some amazing photos! Can’t wait to hear more and see the end result!!
