Got to say that there have been some unexpected ,stunning photos recently, QE2 hotel is looking good, I don't remember a shine like that ever , maybe special paint to repel sand, it's not news on here that I have objected to the removal of stuff & the like, but do hope that the very belated attention & cash injection that the QE2 hotel has recieved, pays off  & it's around long after I'm gone..
There seems to be a vertical line running from below the prom deck to the dark hull colour, any ideas?

I noticed the vertical line too, it looks like some kind of pipe. She's definitely looking a lot better than she has for a while now!
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

She's looking fabulous and relatively unchanged from her sea-going appearance, now keen to get behind her and support her by visiting in May, now hurry up Guys and get her open! 😁👍

I remember reading about that Greenpeace incident years ago (well over 10 years ago in David F Hutching's excellent QE2 book) when learning more about QE2. Thank you for reminding me!  :)

At least it's a colour very similar to the Midnight Blue so has a connection with her, sad to see Federal Grey go though. Having said that she looks excellent, not looked so good in many years!

Dear all,

in today's print edition of "Kreiszeitung Wesermarsch", a local newspaper of north-western germany there is an article about the current conversion of QE2. The "QE2 Story" and the "very active discussion" here about the dry docking is positively mentioned as well. An old picture of QE2 in drydock at Bremerhaven is shown.

As I don't think it is allowed to post a screenshot and the article can only be found in the print edition there is nothing to show, sorry.

Happy Easter

Thank you for this news, Stephan, and also for the summary and the mention of the QE2Story -- that is good to hear.

What a pity that there is no online edition to refer to -- I would have loved to have seen that.

Thank you all for keeping the QE2 alive. I saw the change from ship to hotel in Long Beach on the Queen Mary. I saw the sailing the Atlantic while I was on the MS Stocholm. It was a wonderful sight to seeing her sailing by. The QE2 will also be GREAT to have a new life which you worked hard for!!

Thank You

Joann Scott :)
