Where did Southampton go? Aboard the ship as a display?

I’m fairly sure, correct me if I’m wrong, that the ‘Southampton’ text was physically part of the hull; if that is the case I imagine they would have had to chisel/sand the lettering out and apply filler.

The "S" in "Southampton" can be seen below the two E's in "Queen"

AIDAstella is also in Port Rashid (wish I'd known earlier then I would've screenshotted QE2's tow back to her permanent berth from AIDAstella's webcam). The weather in Dubai sure is better than here in Bournemouth as I type this  ;) .
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

Excellent, lovely to see. Running out of positives to say for that particular photo. She's in good hands (although I personally haven't doubted that in recent months/last year or so).

She looks splendid and shiny. Well done!  :)

Nice that she had a lovely welcome party from the Navigators.

Fantastic photo.

Thank-you to the Navigators for giving a special welcome to QE2.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

I quite like the logo on her side - jury is still out regarding the stern however it is their ship and to be honest they haven't changed that much exterior wise and the paint job is spot on.

Good to see new news on a daily basis just now!!

This is fab news and I cannot believe it's finally happening!

When I think back to the uncertainty of 2013 and how distressing it all was... it's just a lovely start to a new chapter of her life now! And even better that we can all visit and stay on her for the years to come!

Well done to all involved in her restoration and thank you to all the members on here that have provided updates and photos, it's really made the transformation more personal and exciting  :)
