Her foredeck anchor mechanisms (not sure what they're called) will look odd now to be honest, although I hope they're not removed as well as they are part of her design and character... a blank/cleared/empty foredeck will be a shame.
So were the lifeboats & davits, the pools, & all sundry things they've been ripping out for months now,
o k, maybe carpets light fittings & etc would have been changed out at refit, as they are consumables.
Welding closed sea inlets & the like I can understand, the dry docking is to be welcomed especially if as rumoured it could be 40 years before it happens again??.
But, at what stage does it become unacceptable to remove things that are part of her design, & more especially character as mentioned above?.
In my humble opinion that stage has long been passed, all her chains laying scattered around the dockside
look like entrails, surely they don't need the space in a chain locker for any reason. It's just sad.
Will there be enough of her character left after all this ,I don't know, just have to wait & see, like Myles I won't be going any time soon to sample the delights.
This all sounds negative, not meant to be ,they are obviously spending money big time at last, QE2 deserves the opportunity after 10 years in limbo. She delivered for 40 years now the humans must.
