anybody still with us on this mortal earth who were on QE2 1969 /1974
I joined in Glasgow as Equipment Supervisor and said with ship until 1974 when I came ashore to work in Cunard purchasing office. Some crew members I remember
Assistant Hotel Manager  Stewart Humphries.
Alfie Bamfield confectionery chef
Stan Childs deputy chief engineer
Harry Bond Chief butcher
Trevor Josey fish butcher.
Hal Cook Masseur
Eddie Fazal deputy chief butcher
these are just a few of the original crew who were there at the birth of the greatest ship ever built

Hello Geoffrey, you are very welcome to the QE2Story Forum!

I am looking forward to reading some of your memories from a time when I had not even heard of the ship. It must have been amazing to see her as built, which many of us would love to be able to order a time machine for...

What does an Equipment Supervisor do? Going by the people you listed, you may have worked on a great variety of equipment on board.

Feel at home here! It would be brilliant if you could share some photos (those were the days when we took far fewer photos than we do nowadays...), and I hope that over the next few months you will make contact with some people you knew at the time.

We have a whole album of crew portraits, although these were drawn much later, in 1996/97 -- maybe you will find some familiar faces there.

Welcome Geoffrey.  Hoping to hear more about your time onboard behind the scenes.  And I do hope you are able to connect with some former sea-board compatriots!  Do take a look at the drawings Isabelle linked too. Maybe they were still onboard well after you went land-side!

Hi Geoffrey, lovely to hear from someone who was on the ship at that time. My Dad was on there in 1972.
Many members of my family were MN
My Dad was engineroom though.
My brother was a cook, but I am not sure he sailed on the QE 2.
I have posted a photo of them both together on my thread.
I hope you manage to track down some of your old ship mates.
Take care.

Hello Geoffrey, welcome to the QE2 Story.  I hope you enjoy reading the many topics and reconnect with some of your shipmates.

Also looking forward to hearing about your time onboard QE2
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Oh I rememeber Stan Childs. He ran the QE2 branch of the British Sub-Aqua club and was forever charging air-bottles in a workshop above the TA room.

Hi Geoff, I am Peter Fazal, Eddie’s youngest son. your name rings a bell. I knew Hal, Trevor, Harry, and others, and moved to Southampton in 1978, to see more of my Dad. I sailed on the ship in 71 and 73, and joined the sub aqua club with Hal, in the indoor swimming pools. Have lots of great memories - “the dry ship club” in the butchers shop.
Sadly he passed in 1985, but I am a keen follower of all QEII stuff.
Hope you are well

Hi Peter
Yes I knew your father very well He was a great draught player and to my knowledge only beaten once by night steward. l was an original member of the dryship club, other members were Danny Boswell(BR) Trevor Josey (Fish  butcher) plus 2other Brs, George & Ray. Unfortunately I can’t remember their surnames. I was also one of the founding members of the Sub Aqua club with Hal Crook and Stan Childs who was Staff Chief Engineer.. I came ashore in 1974 and was employed by Cunard as a Senior Technical buyer and through Cunard purchased their new inflatable. if you go on to the QE2 site you can see photos of them all including one of you Dad.  Regards. Geoff
