Hi Folks,

Greenock tugman Bill Green has given me permission to post some shots he took as his tug assisted QE2 on her final visit to The Clyde in Oct 2008.

They had carried out the same task for her in Belfast the day before also - it is not uncommon for the Clyde tugs to assist the Belfast fleet if required indeed many years ago Flying Phantom was as far afield as the Bristol Channel to assist the fleet down there.

Anyway - thanks go to Bill Green and copyright (of course) resides with him.

Excellent photos, Gav! And a unique viewpoint from the tug -- thank you and Bill Green for sharing them here.

Len Kerr has sent photos of QE2's last visit to the Clyde that I have added to the Gallery.  Fantastic to receive these QE2 photos from Len.  If you have photos of QE2's last visit to the Clyde or other photos, please add them to the Gallery or contact admin@theqe2story.com and we will add them for you.

Len Kerr sent a photo of the RN ship that accompanied QE2 on her last visit to the Clyde.  He thought the ship may have been the HMS Ark Royal. . If you can confirm the name of the ship I can add this to the Gallery photo, thanks.

Well... HMS Ark Royal was certainly in the Clyde on 5th October 2008, so I'd say "case closed", wouldn't you?

There were a lot of navy ships on the Clyde that day, perhaps with the main intention of greeting QE2.

But this is my photo of Ark Royal, which does look rather similar!
