« on: Feb 11, 2018, 10:49 AM »
It was on the cunard head Office.
I was told the model was there befor the ship was there.
There are no penthouses on this model and it has  the originaliteit white thin funnel
It’s made from one piece of wood and is very heavy.
The size is 60''
Wood be Nice If someone knew something of iT?

The antiquarian knew nothing more to tell me, just it’s price haha

Hello John, and welcome here among the QE2 fans!

You must have been exceedingly lucky to find and buy this large model. I would love to find out more about it.

Where are you displaying it at present?

I'm sure Michael Gallagher, our Cunard expert, will be able to shed light on this lovely model for us.

Could be a concept model for PR purposes or possibly an early "travel agency" model?

Either way it obviously dates from prior to the launch as the name is not visible.

Interesting thought! I checked all the photos again and found that one of them does say "Queen Elizabeth 2" on the bow... the font is quite different though, also for Cunard.

Is there anything on the model that gives information about whom it was created by? Perhaps even on the understand of the stand.

Its a lovely model, but it has the home made look about it, while lm sure we all notice the differences between the model and the real thing, show it to Joe public and they would still say its QE2.  Of course its QE2 Perhaps to give an idea ,how long is this model ?

Reminds me of 2 years ago a friend told me there was a model of QE2 for sale in an antiques place near here, l hot footed to the shop, and there is was on display in the window, The shop was closed, l saw all l needed to see.  About turned and drove away. everything about it was wrong.

Michael did reply that he did not think this model was a Cunard model. And posted some great pics of the builders model.  If you are interested in that conversation it has been moved here:
