Replacement funnel scoop?
« on: Feb 08, 2018, 01:39 AM »
I've stumbled upon a big problem while assembling my 1/450 QE2 kit. the funnel base or "Scoop" (Part B-39) part has melted after trying to strip the paint off it. I'm in need of a new part! Any help or info would be much appreciated! I've attached a picture of the part in question as well.

Most modelling shops will sell plasticard; you could cut a new part from a sheet of that?

Or use filler to re-build it if it isn't too far gone.

as said above, filler plasticard (available in thin guage).
This is the same model I'm doing at the moment, can send photos & dimentions , however if you are going to make the model with the 'fat ' funnel as you mentioned earlier , this could change things anyway..

Thank you for the suggestions everyone, I was able to make a new one from sheet styrene that looks nice  ;D I contacted Revell directly to see if they have the part, but as it is an old kit, the chances of that are slim. But now I have this custom part just in case  :) I have decided to model the QE2 from a different point in her career as i'm unable to make all the modifications needed to represent her in the later years.

Hi Vinny, glad you sorted the funnel out to your liking, (I can stop looking now for the info I know is out there)
Looking good, a belated welcome by the way..
