Stowaway2k/Kyle Johnstone RIP
« on: Dec 01, 2017, 05:43 AM »
With great sadness, I would like to inform you all that I’ve just learned that our friend, Kyle Johnstone, who was known here as Stowaway2k, passed away, sometime in June. Because he was living the past few years as an English teacher in China, it seems that only now has this information reached many of us who regarded him as a friend.

My Friend, you will be missed. I thought perhaps we’d get the chance to relive some of the great camaraderie we had on the old gal, with her upcoming reopening. Now I suppose those epic times aboard will continue to live, if just in my memories and dreams, where I’ll always find you, in that most special time and place we both knew as our home away from home. Fair winds and following seas.

Very sad news to hear.
It's always emotional when a member of the QE2 and QE2 Story community passes.
Condolences to Kyle's family.

I am certain that Stowaway2K loved everything about QE2
His photography will be a wonderful Legacy, in particular - of the ship.
I did know him well, we are so fortunate that he has left this world with some lovely memories.
Rest in peace, Good Man.

Sorry to hear of this sad news and like Lynda I too had wondered if all was OK as I hadn't seen anything posted by him for some time.

It is always hard to say anything that would appear to be meaningful, my thoughts to his family & friends at this time, like QE2, his legacy will be here forever .

You never think when you say Goodbye, that it might just be for the last time.....
An unforgettable pleasure to meet and share some of the QE2 good old days.
Kyle ,May you rest in peace.

Condolences to Kyle's family and friends... and we shall be missing him here...

He was an early and great member of this Forum, joined in December 2009, and contributed 549 posts to our discussions here.

He was one of the top prizewinners in our photo competitions, and the very last post we received from him, in April this year, was a word of thanks when he was voted as both the winner and the runner-up for his photos of the QE2 mast in the February competition. One of these graces the cover of the 2018 calendar, and there are two further pictures of his within.

Rest in peace, Kyle.
