Yesterday, there was a private preview viewing and launch of this exhibition at GSA that I was delighted to attend.  In attendance were Professor Bruce himself, and another of our conference speakers, Ian Johnston.  Numerous other notable people were there, and I enjoyed meeting up with some of our forum members too.

Particular highlights for me were some photos of her original interiors from Bruce's collection that I had never seen before, and I was delighted to see my QE2 chair and Coffee table evident in many of the photos!

I loved seeing Bruce's hand-made waterline model, in paper and card.  I've never liked waterline models because the interesting bits below the water are lost, but I suddenly got it last night - his model shows how she was meant to look - nobody ever saw below the water.

Attached are some photos to set the scene, but if you are in the West of Scotland, you need to make the effort to pop in for a viewing.  The Reid building is pretty amazing too!

She really was a stunner when new.

Thanks Rob, love the cut away & presented vertically , never seen that before, cannot make it, do you know if it is an' on tour' exhibition?.
There was a nice paper & cardboard model on the CH5 doc..
You know, that stuff looks so fresh & modern, it doesn't look right in museum mode if you know what I mean

Hi Pete, it was the same model that was shown on the Channel 5 programme. Bruce Peter told me that he made it when he was a teenager.

I do not think the exhibition is touring but will let you know if it does go on tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the exhibition, but enjoyed even more catching up with many people who had attended the QE2 50 conference last September.  Rob had mentioned many of the people who were there and I agree it was lovely to chat with them.

I would like to go back to have a look again at the pictures showing the original decor of QE2, especially as I had seen the ship in it's original decor in 1968, so the exhibition brought back memories.

Thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition and bumping into some weel kent faces.

I will most probably head back again before it finishes just to get another look.

Its only when you focus on certain areas you realise how "of the time" QE2 was when she was built.

Cheers
