Makes we wonder, if she had continued in service without any notice, would it have been that high? Or would the profit have been the same as the year before, maybe slightly higher ore lower.

Last week a local company closed down, lovely people, but they announced that they where closing due to faling revenue, how ever the last month after they announced the closure the profits went up 400%, because everybody wanted a final taste of there lovely products.

Its not done The Stones any harm and she certainly looks better than Jagger and Richards  :)

It's the old behaviour, more people want to savour a good thing before it's gone forever and clamour for the opportunity to do so as Bob said. Her profits would not have been so high in 2008 if her sale hadn't been announced the previous year. They would have been similar to 2007's profits.
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

The average of profit figure of 2003-2006 would have been compared to the cost of a major refit to bring her up to Solas 2010 and when the refit number ended up being higher then that's when she was "on the market" as they say in auction speak.

The "Don't Know What You've Got 'Til Its Going Going Gone" effect there I think.
