QE2 : The Legend Continues
« on: Aug 20, 2016, 05:14 AM »
During my weekly trip to my local thrift store, I came across these two QE2 VHS cassette tapes. I had to have them! I thought they would be great additions to my growing QE2 collection. Now all I need is a VHS player to watch them on!

I bought those back in the day in, I think, W.H. Smith (or John Menzies as it was in Scotland then), or it could have been Virgin/HMV/Our Price back when I uses to peruse music and video shops in my lunch hour!

I remember excitedly watching them on our then new (first) VHS recorder.

Surely they'll be available on DVD these days?

After a search online regarding that, I think they are only available on VHS.

I think there are businesses out there who will do tape to DVD copying but don't know whether copyright might be an issue.

Copyright is certainly an issue when trying to get 50 year old commercial ciné film put onto DVD and commercial businesses will refuse to do it, so it almost certainly will also be the case with more recent video tapes.

After taking a closer look online, It turns out that QE2: The Legend Continues was released on DVD. It is a rarity though.

I have just watched this -- a video that brings many memories of times spent on board. All the public rooms are shown in action, and also quite a few behind the scenes areas. There are interviews with passengers and crew, including Captains Keith Stanley and J Burton-Hall, Staff Captain Ron Bolton, Chief Engineer Steven Hare and Hotel Managers Engelbert Lainer and John Duffy and, as well as Executive Chef Bernhard Stumpfel.

I shall not have access to a video player in future, and would therefore be happy to send this video to anyone interested -- provided you let me know asap (for reasons beyond my control, the video will end up in a skip in a week's time if not sent out by then...).

New home found for the video -- very grateful!
