Hello, My name is John Aherne. I worked on the QE2 from March 1972 until June 1978, working in the Restaurants. Started as a Commis Wtr, and then waiter. Are there any crew members who worked on the QE2 back then. Thanks,
John

Hi,

I've just returned to my hotel after a few hours in the Crowne Plaza bar with old and new QE2 friends.

Today was an absolute triumph, and the committee deserve huge congratulations. Everyone who spoke to me loved the day, was impressed with organisation.  It was fast-paced, interesting, had a "bit of everything", it really was a packed day.  There was no chance of dosing off, because you'd miss something!

I never thought until today that I'd be sharing a table with Scott Clegg, Michael Gallagher, Stephen Payne and Nick Bates, all QE legends in their way, and all part of the QE2 Story.

Tomorrow is the boat trip, which everyone's looking forward to.  Our boat, the clipper, is already tied up across from the Crowne Plaza and ready to take us down to Clydebank in the morning.

Hi Rob

A great achievement, well done. Your Dad would be very proud.

Sorry I could not be there, currently in Hong Kong. My Best regards to everyone.

Yes, we had three wonderful flags 'flying' in the hall. The 39ft Paying Off Pennant, a Cunard House Flag, and a huge which was flown from QE2's stern flagpole. This flag even has areas of soot staining! Really special to have these with us at the celebrations. Thank you Flagship.
