I've attached a new image from Google Maps, which now has 3D viewing of the area.

Off topic  but  whilst one was there, another place to visit  could be the huge German eagle sitting  on a plinth near to the canal lock.
Apparently after the 2nd world war the allies didn't blow up the monument, they just 'clipped the wings', of this huge bird. Metaphors abound, but it's still there. Learned that whilst on my trip with SAGA RUBY.

Knew I had it somewhere

Apparently there is little respect for the propeller.

Its also easy to find on Goggle Earth or Google Maps.  Just search for "QE2 propeller" and it will take you right to it.

I think it might have been me that added it as a location, it was very hard to locate the first time, and definitely not labelled!  its a shame it can't be moved to somewhere where it will get more respect and recognition... maybe we should launch a rescue bid to return it to Clydebank...

Or perhaps even better, contact a local paper in Kiel and ask them to write an article! There must be a good reason why the propeller is there, and it would be great to find out more and for the local readers to receive more information :) .

I like the Clydebank idea.  Do they have anything from other famous ships Mary, Elizabeth, etc.?  If not, I would think returning the propeller would be a desirable thing.
