Just a side note Rob,at Port Rashid and nearby areas taking photos of QE2 is not allowed and they make a big fuss about.
Some of these people that post on Instagram are locals and have nothing to do with QE2 but they can still get in trouble for taking photos.

When you want to contact these people do it in private message. Many spyies in Dubai check out these online social media platforms.

Fancy getting into bother cos of taking a photo of something that is in full view what's wrong with these people, one would think they'd be happy that us commoners were interested in their 9 years & counting   (dare we call it) project.

I'm sorry Louis, if someone posts a public photo on Instagram, and I comment on it, that's really their problem!

It's sad that even more names are being painted on her as opposed to the ones painted over or removed.

Bob, Maybe she will always keep both So'ton and Port Vila -
'Dubai" or Port Rashid aren't registration ports, are they?

This is an excellent close-up.
Has she got new uptakes - they used to be black and almost invisible.
The two large hoses from the ?sun-deck, hopefully might these relate to AC for the people working on board?
The rails almost beneath the tarps where so many passengers used to lean over in their special 'Titanic-Film moments...
Hands-up who watched...!
Long may they remain in situ.

Hi Rosie, regarding the seemingly new uptakes - I think they have just been properly cleaned up as Davina mentioned sometime last year that the funnel had been repainted - making sense for them to clean it too.

The clean uptakes are present in several photos Davina posted earlier this year in the same topic as the above mentioned.

It is unlikely "Port Villa" will be kept on the stern since she will never be a sea going ship again and will most likely be classified as a building (if she isn't already) like Queen Mary and Rotterdam. I hope they keep Southampton as a nod to her history and this seems likely since they have kept the metal plates making up the port name until now.

First travelled on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last stepped foot and travelled on QE2 in July 2008.

The monochrome image is interesting, not much shine left on the black (federal grey) paint though :-\

Speaking as a Moderator : Could we please try and focus discussion here on the photos from Dubai? The photos themselves, and what we see in them?

There are various existing topics where other questions can be discussed, and new topics can also be created. This will make it easier for readers in future to find some of these highly relevant discussions under the relevant headings. Thank you very much for your help!

Thank you for posting -
However, This image, L, that was taken from her stern is Absolutely Heart-Breaking.
QE2 - It looks as if we are losing you
It's difficult to know how brave you need to be...

To The Owners of QE2 - Please, Please send something to Rob,
Any information will help - Hiding has Never been in QE2's Nature, she has Never Ever been Ashamed or Secretive.

QE2 has not been the most Famous, Loved and Greatest Ocean-Going Liner - just to look like this.
QE2 should remain; she has a reputation to maintain, particularly as a Highly Respected and Grand, Old Lady.
Thank you.

Very well said, Rosie !
QE2 - the ship for all of time, a ship of timeless beauty !

and we could add "QE2 is in Dubai"...
