Can I just confirm... this being a Friday all day event... is it feasible for me, with the event timings, to do it as a straight "out and back" using the Sleeper train on Thursday night northbound and Friday night southbound?  Or are there related events on the days either side of the main event?

Hi Peter, if you were wanting to only attend the conference then you could do as you have mentioned the "Sleeper train on Thursday night northbound and Friday night southbound"

However, Rob is organising other events for delegates, which have not been finalised yet.  But it is likely that there will be the opportunity to meet for drinks either on the Thursday or Friday evening and something planned for during the day on the Saturday.

As Lynda says, we're exploring other options for the Saturday, and evening meet-ups.  However these won't be covered as part of the conference ticket which is about to go on sale, which is purely for the Friday event at Clydebank Town Hall.

PS: Nice similarity between the ticket for this event and the ticket to her launch in '67! I won one on eBay a few years ago from the son of the man who worked at John Brown's and cut her mast(out of aluminium I remember him telling me in the accompanying letter which came with the ticket!)

I hope you can manage to attend the conference and thanks for asking about a DVD of the conference.

The committee have discussed the possibility of having the event filmed to put online or on a DVD.  We have not reached a decision on this as we would need to investigate who would do the video and audio recording of the conference to ensure a good production.  We will keep you informed on this matter through this topic and the event website. 

Good to know that you have a copy of the launch ticket, which is something to treasure.

One way in which everyone can help promote the event, is to use your favourite search engine to search for QE2 50 event Clydebank, and when you see the event site come up in the list, click on it.  This feeds back to the search engine that its a good safe site.  Do this on any devices and computers you can find!

Rob, I noticed that Microsoft Edge browser blocks this as a suspicious site !!! I'm sure it worked before the URL was changed to hhtps.
It blocks it from both directly entered URLs, links in the previous messages and via Google search.

As usual, all other browsers work normally.

However, for anyone using edge and encountering problems, the fix is to go into Settings-> view advanced settings->scroll down to bottom of list and turn off Smart Screen Filter.

Thanks for your comment.

To clarify, my "Launch Ticket" isn't a copy - it's an original!
The chap I bought it off was invited to her launch along with his Dad - at the time, an employee of John Brown's and he had the foresight not to hand it in on the day!

NB: eBay has been a wonderful source of original Cunard memorabilia for me!
