Hi thanks for posting the pictures.  The memorabilia display is on loan to the Clydebank Museum, from our very own Cunarder Man.

We had had discussion with the West Dunbartonshire Council, Heritage Team earlier in the year about having a QE2 display.  Cunarder Man has a fanatic range of QE2 memorabilia and done a lot of work cataloging the items (8 boxes to be precise).  The items have been on display during the month of August and will be on display at the time of the conference.

There is also a Scottish Field Magazine September 1967, loaned by Duncan Nicholson, the son of John Nicholson, Marine artist, the cover of which depicts an image of a painting by the artist of the original QE2.  The original painting will be on display at the time of the conference.

We had an enquiry asking if there was a dress code for the conference
How about QE2 themed, ties, jackets,t shirts polo shirts headquares, badges pins hats .etc..

Yes I thought this was a relatively new exhibit as I had also been on a school trip with last session's class to Clydebank Museum (I try to make school trips to raise awareness of local history where possible) and I was fairly certain I hadn't seen the QE2 memorabilia then (May 2017).

You know what folks, you could do worse  than start at P1 & work down to here, to how this has developed & the work put in by the committee  for QE2 's birthday & our enjoyment is incredible.  Thank you one & all ....
Just 1 thing what are we going to do when the clock stops / goes ?

1 day 12 hours and seven minutes until the start of the conference and counting.  I wonder who will do the countdown for us on Friday while we are waiting for the conference to start?

It has been a very busy couple of weeks and now no more can be done but wait and take everything in our stride.

The Event Group will be at Clydebank again tomorrow to check out AV system and hopefully see the hall set up as we want it to be.

Maybe we will see some of the delegates at the Crowne Plaza tomorrow evening.  If not we will look forward to meeting everyone on Friday

We're planning on catching the 0836 from Queen Street. Will anyone else be on that train?

No, but I'll be on a similarly timed one from Central Low Level so we'll probably arrive only a few minutes apart.

I'm travelling on this one http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C74107/2017/09/21/advanced tomorrow night then having breakfast at the Central Hotel after which I will get a train from Low Level to Clydebank.

Really enjoyed today, met some fellow forum members, and also other lovely delegates why where really kind, and really did help to make us understand better.

Coming from a country that doesn't speak English as the main language, it has been a really tiring day to understand everything that has been said, especially when people spoke in accents. Using the English language tough my normal working day every single one of them, I never need to speak or listen to it, only read and write, this also shows me how hard it can be after a little while of not hearing a language.

After hearing everybody's sometime personal connection to for example the building of the ship, it is really made me understand better how this kind of enterprise affected peoples lives, what they did, how they did it. Coming from a part of the Netherlands close to Rotterdam, but actually without any connection maritime connections it was a real great learning experience.

I would really like to thank everybody who made todays conference possible for the wonderful day and experience we had.

The only thing which I personally regret was forgetting my QE2 50th batch which I ordered for today, but completely forgot to take with me.

I have made some photos throughout the day, is there any email address I can send them to? I will look at them once I get home to pick some of the better ones.

Hi Bob -

Thank you very much for the great comments about the conference and very glad that you had a great time.  It was indeed a wonderful event and many thanks to Lynda, John, and Gav (the committee) and all others who worked tirelessly to honor our QE2.

Any photos that you have will be very much appreciated !

I did not take very many, but rest assured I will be sending them all in.  They are still in the camera at the moment.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks and congratulations to Lynda, John and Gavin and all of the others who made this weekend something really special.
Well done everyone.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the conference and the trip Doon the Watter.
It was also fantastic to eventually meet my fellow corespondants face to face and have a chat without a keyboard.
I am going to be busy sailing (again) for the next few days, but I will post some of the one or two photos I took over the 2 days when I am back on dry land.

Once again, thanks to everyone for a really memorable event and celebration of the magnificent QE2.
